Ovens National School has been taking part in the Sciath na
Scol competition for many years. Sciath
na Scol is a sports tournament that is
held every year among primary schools. There are many
competitions within Sciath
na Scol - boys and girls Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie, and is
supported
by the GAA (The Gaelic Athletic Association). All schools are encouraged to take
part.
We
are pleased to report that our teams have been very successful during
that time. In the last eight
years we have won (1) ladies hurling (2)
ladies football (3)county finals in Camogie, Boys Football (4)
and
reached two more finals in hurling and girls football. Last year we
competed in eleven Sciath na
Scol competitions. Our training takes place
at lunch times, football from September to November,
Indoor hurling from
December to February, hurling / camogie from March to June. Our games
usually
start between 2.00pm and 3.00pm and arrival home depends on
distance travelled. (Parents drive us
to matches for which we are very
grateful) Results
