The Cork - Macroom Railway Line

  • The first Train ran from Cork to Macroom on May 12th, 1866
  • The tracks ran through Grange Ovens
  • Two stations in Ovens
  • Killumney and Kilcrea
  • Work started, August 26th, 1861
  • Total of 24.5 miles at a cost of 6,000 per mile
  • Coach road
  • 2004 - This bridge has been renovated recently. It is west of Killumney on the road to Aherla. The stone came from the old Ballincollig Barracks.
