    Music is a big part of life in Ovens NS. Music is taught in the classroom as part of the curriculum and also by a visiting music teacher, Mr Johnny McCarthy.

 Johnny visits our school once a week. He teaches tin whistle to children from 1st to 4th class. In 5th & 6th Class the children can choose between the fiddle, guitar and tin whistle.

This Music Literacy course is specifically designed to introduce young children to the basic elements of music and to prepare them for successful instrumental playing. The emphasis is on developing the innate musical abilities of each child and making the whole learning experience enjoyable. These classes are held on a Friday afternoon after school.
