Carrigaline began like champions in the Allianz Sciath na Scol F2 Final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh yesterday. Conor Gould's goal and a Cilian McSweeney point inside the first three minutes proved a bridge too far for Ovens who fought gallantly over the 40 minutes.

Ovens enjoyed their best spell on the run up to half time but found scores difficult to come by thanks in the main to brilliant full back Chris Allen and Robert O'Shea who played a pivotal role.

A pair of points form Vincent Coffey - son of former county star Barry who proudly watched from the stand - and Daniel O'Shea brought Ovens into contention but Carrigaline finished the stronger with white flags from the classy O'Shea and Dylan O'Brien. The mid Cork side tried hard after the resumption but struggled to translate their superiority into scores.

O'Shea and Michael Kelleher exchanged points before Carrigaline hit a purple patch that resulted in a succession of scores from Eoin Moynihan, Alan Cooney and O'Shea (two). They finished in style with the lion-hearted O'Shea bagging his fourth point of the game.
