Alder Catkins :

These graceful catsí tails are the flowers of the Alder tree. When the wind shakes the catkin, a cloud of pollen is released into the air. When the pollen falls on the stigma of another tree the fruit of the alder begins to develop. This ripens through the Summer and in the Autumn will contain the seeds. The Alder fruit is like a little cone.
